Abby Seymour
Abby Seymour is a jeweller based in Melbourne/Naarm, VIC. Seymour’s practice began as a printmaker, and the nuanced and personal line and dot patterning that characterise her jewellery and ceramics have evolved from this formative background in consideration of surface.
Textural detailing and a distinct language of patterning combine with a subtlety of form in Abby’s works. Through her application to detail and the hand finishing of every piece, Seymour is both conscious of creating a sustainable practice, and also of pushing her artisanal abilities.
Ceramics
Ebony Russell
Ebony Russel is an artist based in Sydney, NSW. Challenging the established perceptions of cultural and artistic practices that were once exclusively coded as feminine and thus insignificant, Russell’s work celebrates the decorative, promiscuous aesthetics and politics of purity; the superficial, excess and delight – with pleasure. Russell's Piped Dream Studio project is a collection of functional pieces that reference the delicate layers and embellishments of her sculptural practice.
Russell completed a Bachelor of Applied Arts (Honours) at Monash University in 2003 and in 2019 graduated from The National Art School Sydney with a Masters of Fine Art. She has won many awards including the Franz International Rising Star Award in 2018.
Major exhibitions include Clay Dynasty, The Powerhouse Museum Sydney 2021; The 66th Blake Art Prize, 2020; Ceramica Maxima, The Jamfactory, 2021; Midnight Garden, Modern Eden Gallery, San Francisco, 2020:The Backbone of Things, Te Auaha Gallery, Wellington.
Tracy Muirhead
Tracy Muirhead is an experienced ceramicist based in Melbourne/Narrm, VIC. Her practise involves a combination of hand building and moulding forms. Her pieces are created manipulating the clay as little as possible to reveal and enhance its inherent qualities.
Muirhead is interested in the relationship between each of the pieces she produces, and how these enhance one another to ultimately augment a living space.
