Beck Jobson

Beck Jobson — Handwoven Mixed Fibre Throw | Wrap in Black and Pink

$325

Melbourne based textile artist Beck Jobson works over many mediums, drawing inspiration from world textile traditions, seventies sci-fi, ceremonial costume, street fashion and contemporary architecture. Her art practice spans conceptual exhibitions, curating, critical writing, product development and workshop facilitation. Beck’s work is characterized by bold colour, direct mark making and manual construction processes that include loom weaving, block printing, hand painting and resist dying. Beck manipulates locally sourced materials in her experimental ‘textile laboratory’ into small batch collections and unique wearable artifacts.

All works are woven by hand on a manual loom and take between 10 and 20 hours to complete. Each work is unique, created using mostly local, high quality, natural fibres. The hand made nature of the process results in an idiosyncratic and lively fabric.
