Andrei Davidoff — 'Smiley Face' Lidded Sculptural Vessel
Having completed a Masters in Fine Art from RMIT University, Andrei Davidoff pushes his work in ceramics to be both a practice of production - making tableware of strength, beauty and utility - and also of thoughtful provocation - working conceptually to produce installations and sculpture.
This breadth of practice instills Andrei’s tableware with gesture of form and brushwork that are a graceful extension of his exhibiting practice, and in so doing offer a rarefied moment at the table. This is in conjunction with the hard-wearing fabrication of high-fired porcelain and stone wares that he employs, and his minimal ornament of gestural glaze or hand evident in his forms are beautiful moments for the maker to be visible within the utilitarian.
