Wendy’s practice has grown from her Diploma of Textile Design and Development and her Advanced Diploma of Textiles, Clothing and Footwear, to emerge in – amongst other pieces - a collection of handmade and individual scarves that explore drape and material upon the body.
Wendy’s scarves reveal sculptural thought processes and engage different weights of yarn and sizes of knit to continually challenge our familiarity with fibres. The drama of specialist yarns is juxtaposed by the regularity and precision of stitches, and the detail to finish Wendy attends to.
Wendy’s pieces encourage playfulness and exploration, and cause us to consider the garment that we wear in a more creative way. They are easy to care for with a gentle hand wash and a delicate soap, then pat excess water from the piece, and dry in the shade.
Inspired by aged upholstery fabric, this jacquard print slowly degrades/pixelates along the length of the scarf.
Double sided jacquard, each side is the reverse of the other.
