Nicole Lawrence – Oro Lamp, 2022
The Oro Lamp draws inspiration from the Ouroboros snake symbol and intends to be equally iconic. As with all NLS pieces, this lamp is made entirely in Melbourne both by NLS and collaboratively with experts - notably an artisanal glass blower to create these striking hand-blown glass shades are designed to cast a warm and calming light.
'Blue is my favourite colour, I often find myself wearing an all-blue outfit. I am looking forward to being nicknamed "The Blue Lady" when I am an old dotty lady walking down the street.'
Nicole Lawrence Studio is an industrial design and fabrication studio based in Melbourne (Naarm), Australia. Specialising in furniture and lighting design, NLS employs a vast range of materials and production techniques, collaborating with industry professionals in realising multi-faceted design projects on both a commercial and individual level. Exploring the relationship between aesthetic form and functionality, Nicole Lawrence Studio seeks to resolve the friction between structural purpose and stylistic freedom. Through questioning not only how something is made but why it’s made that way, considerations in functional and experiential benefit perpetually evolve.
