Owen Rye — Woodfired Jug

Award winning artist Owen Rye has experimented with clay for over 40 years, contributing to the field of ceramics as a teacher, artist, and writer. Owen works exclusively with a hand-built wood fueled kiln and is a well-known leader in the woodfire movement in Australia and overseas. His techniques and process produce an unusual surface texture, and each of his pieces are of a unique character. Owen has exhibited his work throughout Australia and internationally and is represented in private and public collections.

The ash effected glaze of this beautifully formed vessel is a result of the woodfired kiln process.
